Hike to Green Lake and East Lake

"Come to the woods, for here is rest. There is no repose like that of the green deep woods. Here grow the wallflower and the violet. The squirrel will come and sit upon your knee, the logcock will wake you in the morning. Sleep in forgetfulness of all ill. Of all the upness accessible to mortals, there is no upness comparable to the mountains."
~John Muir

This summer I hiked with my friends Kelly and Jess. In June we hiked from the Green Creek trail head to Green Lake and then continued onto East Lake. The hike was a total of 10 miles round trip and we gained 1,700 feet in elevation. From the trail head it is about 3 miles to Green Lake and then 1.5 miles on to East Lake.
The morning we set out it looked stormy toward the mountains but we took our chances and headed to the trail head. It was nice and cool... perfect weather for hiking. We did not get rained on but it was pretty windy.

Some pretty sights on our way to Green Lake...

Once we arrived at Green Lake the wind really hit us. It was a bit chilly.

Do you see the waterfall?

We enjoyed the beauty and then started making our way toward East Lake.

And 1.5 miles later we were at East Lake...windy but gorgeous!

I love this hike. We turned around a little past East Lake but you can continue on all the way to Virginia Lakes. Jess and I ran from Green Creek trail head to Virginia Lakes a couple times this summer but I will save that for another post.
