Lovely Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins

When I mention whole wheat to some people, they immediately cringe and want nothing to do with the baked goodie offered. To some, whole wheat is a synonym for "grainy and dried out".
Well, I'm here to try and change that misconception! haha. I like baking with whole wheat flour, in fact that's the only kind of flour I have in my pantry.

Lately I've been working on perfecting my whole wheat blueberry muffins and I think they are approaching perfection. Here's the recipe but please note that I'm baking at altitude...

Monster Burgers

The monster!
Yesterday my sister, Kara, came up from Mammoth to visit us in Bridgeport. Burgers sounded really good for dinner so I went to Albert's Meat Market after work to pick up some ground beef. Albert has been in business in Bridgeport for about 19 years (plus a few more years at a Twin Lakes location) and dedicates a lot of his time and energy to community events. He has fed a lot of people! I always go to his shop to pick up whole chickens for our beer can chicken nights (that will be a future post) :).
I got home and Kara arrived. We started cooking bacon and slicing tomatoes, avocado, red onion, and romaine for the burgers. Will was the grill master. He got the patties on the grill and after a bit, added blue cheese so it would melt on top.

Summer Storms in the Sierra

“What a psalm the storm was singing, and how fresh the smell of the washed earth and leaves, and how sweet the still small voices of the storm!” ― John MuirStickeen

I love thunder. Listening to it roll and rumble is thrilling. I am content stopping to listen to the raindrops and watch the lightening flash across the entire sky.

The past few days have been sunny and warm... and then in the afternoon the clouds roll in and cool off the land.
